What can Artificial Intelligence (AI) tell us about ourselves?
AI’s impact on society is both inflated and understated. How can this be? Economics tells us there is more than one way to view something. In micro-economics we look towards the individual where in macro-economics we look to a group of individuals (and groups of groups). Keeping with the economic theme, AI has an inflationary impact, one that is hard to control and even harder to understand. Can AI help or hurt? Can AI augment in a positive way or a negative way? Such yes or no questions don’t really capture the depth of AI’s impact. So what can we do about improving our situational awareness? Enter AI Day SF.
AI Day SF
6-February-2025, 9am – 9pm (food provided)
@Google Community Space – 188 Embarcadero, San Francisco
AI Day SF is a co-hosted event by the local chapters of the Internet Society and Association for Computing Machinery. This is the same team that brought Global Encryption Day SF (gedsf.org) to life back in October 2024. The goal of AI Day SF is provide a wide view into AI’s impact today, not yesterday, nor tomorrow. Learning history and envisioning the future are very important, but knowing today is just as important. For example, what is happening in the legal realm regarding AI right now? Which regulation was just enforced related to AI? Which laws are being contested or enforced around AI? Now imagine learning about AI impact across several sectors of society in one evening, thats AI Day SF.
Like gedsf.org, we have multiple sessions, from training on AI related tooling to thought leadership. This one day format provides learning, networking, and a launch pad to your next steps in assessing and leveraging AI. We hope you will join us.
